Missy graduated from Warren Central High School, Mississippi State University (MA in Psychology, Minor in Spanish), Chapman University (MS in Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling), and Mississippi College (endorsement for school counseling). Her career began in Colorado Springs, working at a group home while attending grad school. It was there that she realized she had strengths in working with adolescents. She moved back to Mississippi to take care of her parents, and started at Warren Yazoo Mental Health as an outpatient therapist. When her oldest child started kindergarten, she went back to school at Mississippi College to get a school counselor endorsement. Working at Sherman Avenue Elementary allowed her to have the same schedule as her son, and soon to be two sons. Over the 18 years, she worked at Vicksburg Warren School District, she worked at Sherman Avenue, Vicksburg High School, Warren Junior, Warren Central, then back to Vicksburg High. In 2018, she started a new position, Career Technical Counselor/Dual Credit Coordinator, at Hinds Community College here in Vicksburg. Hinds has been a blessing, but she missed her first love of counseling as a therapist. Using her education and experience to help people reach their goals, personally and professionally is why she's joining our group. She will continue at Hinds, and see clients after hours for Grace. Missy is married and has two sons, 24 and 19. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, National Board Certified Counselor, and National Board Certified School Counselor.
